UEFA, CONCACAF Demand $2.1 Billion Payout from FIFA Reserves

UEFA and CONCACAF have jointly demanded that FIFA release at least $2.1 billion from its financial reserves to distribute among its 211 member associations. In a letter sent on September 18, 2026, to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the presidents of the European and North/Central American/Caribbean confederations proposed a payout of $10 million per association for the 2027-2030 cycle. The demand comes as FIFA's reserves are projected to reach $6 billion by the end of the 2023-2026 cycle, according to the letter. UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin and CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani argued that FIFA already has the capacity to provide this funding without seeking private investment, referencing the aborted FIFA Forward Enterprise plan. The FIFA Forward Enterprise, or FFE, was a proposal to sell stakes in FIFA competitions to private investors, which Infantino shelved in August 2026 after widespread backlash. UEFA and CONCACAF have been critical of the plan, with UEFA initiating legal actions in US courts to obtain documents related to the proposal.
