UAE pledges €40 billion investment in Germany during state visit

Published 11 September 2026

The United Arab Emirates has announced an intention to invest €40 billion in Germany, with €10 billion specifically allocated to the state of Bavaria, during a state visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The pledge was made during meetings in Munich and Berlin on September 10, 2026, as part of a broader effort to deepen economic ties between the two nations. The investment will focus on sectors including industry, advanced technology, artificial intelligence, data centres, digital infrastructure, and energy security. The announcement was made by UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, who also serves as the UAE's special envoy to Germany. The German government confirmed the €40 billion pledge, noting it would partly fund data centres with a capacity of up to one gigawatt. During the visit, German and Emirati companies signed 29 agreements with a total value of €9.4 billion. The UAE also proposed the establishment of a German-Emirati Investment Council to mobilize long-term capital, identify opportunities, and remove barriers for businesses.
