U2 Release Pogues Cover for Shane MacGowan Tribute Album

U2 have released their cover of The Pogues' classic "Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah," the latest preview of the upcoming tribute album "20th Century Paddy: The Songs of Shane MacGowan." The album, which honors the late Pogues frontman, is scheduled for release on November 13, 2026. The track, originally released in 1988, is the first offering from the star-studded collection to be shared by U2. The band's reimagining adds a driving bassline and layered guitars to the punk-folk original. In a statement, U2 guitarist The Edge reflected on MacGowan's legacy, describing him as an artist "full of contradictions" whose work drew from a lineage running "from the pub storyteller to the punk stage.
