Two Turks detained over Poland Starlink station fire

Published 13 October 2026

Two Turkish citizens detained in Germany are expected to face sabotage charges in Poland over a September fire at a Starlink station in central Poland, Polish officials said. Authorities in Germany have also referred to the arrests of three individuals, while a report citing unnamed sources said a woman was detained in Berlin in connection with the case. Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski said the two men would face charges of carrying out sabotage on behalf of a foreign intelligence agency. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said German police made the arrests on behalf of Polish services. Officials did not disclose where or when the two men were detained. The fire engulfed the station’s power system and backup generator. Polish officials said the suspected sabotage was intended to disrupt internet services, including those used by Ukraine’s military. A report on the station said it remained operational after the blaze. Polish Special Services Minister Tomasz Siemoniak said he had no doubt Russian services were behind the fire, and alleged that Russian services increasingly used people linked to criminal networks.
