Two Men Killed in Brooklyn Playground Shooting

Two men were shot and killed inside a Brooklyn playground on Friday night, and police were searching Saturday for the suspect. The shooting occurred at Howard Playground in Brownsville, a park within the Howard Houses public housing complex, shortly before 10:30 p.m. on September 11. The victims were identified as Antoine Utsey, 35, of Bed-Stuy, and Deon Miller, 33, who lived near the playground. Police said officers responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired near Mother Gaston Boulevard and Glenmore Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Miller with a gunshot wound to the neck and Utsey with wounds to the chest and ankle. Both men were transported to area hospitals. Miller was taken to Interfaith Medical Center, and Utsey was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. Both were pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The motive for the shooting remains unknown. Police have not released information on whether the victims knew each other or were targeted. An investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made. Police sources described the suspect as a man wearing a dark red hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and black sneakers.
