Two Detained in Mumbai Security Scare Near PM Modi Event

Two individuals were detained by Mumbai Police on September 7 near a venue where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to attend an event, following allegations of impersonation and the discovery of a firearm. The incident occurred at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) area. One of the detained individuals, identified as 24-year-old Rohan Parekh, allegedly attempted to enter the venue by posing as an official from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) using forged identity documents. Security personnel became suspicious of the credentials presented and alerted authorities. Parekh was accompanied by a bodyguard, Dilip Kunde, who was found to be carrying a firearm. Both were subsequently taken into custody. Mumbai Police clarified that the incident took place on Monday, September 7, and had no connection with Prime Minister Modi's scheduled visit to Mumbai on Tuesday, September 8. The event Prime Minister Modi was set to attend was the inauguration of the seventh edition of the Global Fintech Fest 2026 at the Jio World Centre.
