Two arrested after teen gangraped in sleeper bus near Delhi

A 16-year-old girl was gangraped by a bus driver and conductor inside an empty sleeper bus in the Delhi region on August 4, police said on Monday, August 31, 2026. Both accused have been arrested, and the vehicle has been seized for forensic examination. The incident occurred near Pari Chowk in Greater Noida on the night of August 4. According to police, the teenager, a Class 11 student from Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh, had left her home without informing her family after a disagreement and was traveling to visit a cousin in Noida. Amid heavy rain and darkness, she mistakenly disembarked at Pari Chowk. Unable to find another vehicle, she flagged down a passing sleeper bus. The driver, identified as Kuldeep, and the conductor, Sandeep, allegedly told her the bus was heading toward her destination in Noida Sector 63. Police sources state the bus was actually empty and returning to a parking lot in Timarpur after undergoing repairs at a workshop in Surajpur. The girl boarded the vehicle. Shortly after the bus began moving, the conductor allegedly made obscene advances. Police said both men then sexually assaulted the teenager and threatened to kill her if she resisted.
