Twitch CEO Says GTA 6 Multiplayer Launching in 2027

Published 18 September 2026

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has indicated that the multiplayer mode for Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch in 2027, a timeline he says is based on conversations with developer Rockstar Games. The statement, made in an interview with Bloomberg, provides the first specific launch window for the highly anticipated online component, though Rockstar has not officially confirmed its existence or timing. Clancy stated that Twitch has "spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans" and expects a significant viewership surge for the platform when the multiplayer mode arrives. "You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer," Clancy said. Rockstar Games has maintained strict secrecy around the multiplayer plans. The studio's official announcements and marketing for Grand Theft Auto 6 have focused exclusively on the singleplayer campaign, which is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The company has not commented on Clancy's remarks. The parent company, Take-Two Interactive, recently addressed the future of the franchise's online ecosystem during a shareholder meeting.
