Tucson gay bar shooting: 2 dead, hate crime probe

Two men were killed and the suspected gunman died by suicide in a shooting outside a Tucson, Arizona, gay bar, an incident authorities are investigating as a targeted hate crime. The attack occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, August 31, 2026, when Ousman Ceesay, 44, approached Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, 42, and Cameron Davis Capara, 33, in the parking lot of VentureN bar. Police found Siqueiros and Capara fatally shot at the scene. Ceesay was discovered with gunshot wounds and later died at a local hospital. Investigators recovered shell casings from a single 9mm handgun found at the scene, indicating no other shooter was involved. Evidence recovered from Ceesay's home, including a note, suggested he acted alone and that the shooting was motivated by hate toward the LGBTQ community. Ceesay had recently moved to Tucson and had no apparent connection to the victims, according to police. Surveillance footage confirmed Ceesay did not attempt to enter the bar. Tucson Police Chief Monica Prieto stated that bias-based crimes are "especially heinous and have no place in our community" and that investigators are thoroughly examining all evidence.
