Trump to fly Qatar jet to Ireland amid security concerns

The flight will mark the president's first international journey on the jet since a security incident in July prompted officials to move him to a different plane during his departure from a NATO summit in Turkey. The Qatari-gifted aircraft, valued at approximately $400 million, has been used for domestic travel since early July. However, questions have been raised about its security capabilities compared to the heavily modified aircraft traditionally designated as Air Force One. The decision to use the jet for international travel comes as President Trump prepares for increased travel ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Concerns about the aircraft's safety intensified after Trump's return from Turkey in July. Following intelligence reports of a potential Iranian threat, U.S. officials secretly transferred the president from the Qatari jet to an alternate U.S. military plane while the original aircraft, reportedly carrying other senior officials and journalists, flew on as a decoy.
