Trump Says No Regrets Over Iran War Ahead of Midterms

President Donald Trump said Thursday that he has no regrets about launching the war with Iran, rejecting suggestions that the conflict and its economic fallout could damage his Republican Party in the November midterm elections. In an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham on The Ingraham Angle, Trump said he does not believe in the word regret, adding that if he had the decision to make again, he would do exactly as he did. He dismissed claims that the war has demoralised his supporters, saying they are proud that he is not letting Iran obtain a nuclear weapon. Iran has repeatedly denied seeking nuclear weapons, saying its uranium enrichment program is for peaceful purposes. Trump reiterated his assertion that the war will end immediately after the midterm elections, telling reporters that Iran cannot hold out any longer and is desperate to influence the vote. He also predicted that oil prices would tumble after the election. However, the Wall Street Journal reported that senior White House advisers, including JD Vance and Marco Rubio, have privately warned the president that the war could continue until the end of his term in January 2029.
