Trump's 23-Pound Weight Gain Raises Health Concerns

Published 24 August 2026

President Donald Trump has gained 23 pounds since his 2023 booking in Georgia, a significant increase that has prompted warnings from medical experts about potential health risks. The weight change, documented between a self-reported 215 pounds in August 2023 and a White House medical report showing 238 pounds in May 2026, places the 80-year-old president just below the clinical threshold for obesity based on his height of 6 feet 3 inches. The figures have drawn concern from physicians not involved in Trump's care. Dr. Scott Kahan, director of the National Center for Weight and Wellness, stated that obesity is a strong risk factor for numerous health issues, premature disability, and death.
