Trump rallies in Mobile to support Alabama Republicans

Published 2 October 2026

President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Mobile on October 2 to support Alabama Republicans ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, including candidates in the governor’s race and a closely watched congressional contest. The rally was part of Trump’s campaign travel and was intended to energize Republican voters, though its effect on the races is not established. Trump backed Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who is running for governor against former Sen. Doug Jones, and Republican state Rep. Rhett Marques, who is challenging Democratic Rep. Shomari Figures in Alabama’s redrawn 2nd Congressional District. Trump told reporters before the trip that he wanted to thank states that had supported him and said people in Alabama wanted to see him. In remarks reported from another account, he also cited the governor’s race and Tuberville’s victory in the Republican primary. The Mobile rally returned Trump to a city where he drew a large crowd at an early campaign event in 2015. The October event came amid a broader midterm schedule, with Trump campaigning for Republicans in states where he performed strongly in the 2024 election as well as in competitive areas.
