Trump proposes presidential retreat at West Palm Beach golf club
Harvey Oyer, a lawyer representing Trump International Golf Club, has proposed that Palm Beach County provide part of its golf-course property to the federal government for a presidential retreat, with Donald Trump paying to build the residence and related facilities. The county is considering the plan, but no county or federal agreement or final approval has been reported. Oyer outlined the proposal in a letter sent to Palm Beach County commissioners in September. The county owns the land beneath Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach and leases it to the Trump Organization. Under the proposed arrangement, part of the property would be used for a government-owned retreat, while the Trump Organization would continue operating the adjacent golf course and paying rent to the county. County Administrator Joseph Abruzzo said officials were seeking more information and taking the proposal under consideration. He said the county was in contact with the General Services Administration and identifying a possible parcel.
