Trump lunges at reporter over $5,000 check proposal question

President Donald Trump verbally confronted and lunged at ABC News reporter Rachel Scott on Thursday after she questioned his proposal to give every American adult a $5,000 "Trump dividend" if Republicans win the upcoming midterm elections. The heated exchange occurred on the tarmac in Dallas as Trump was departing a GOP convention where he had announced the pledge. Scott, a senior political correspondent, asked the president why he needed to offer a financial incentive to vote if his economic policies were working. "If your economic policies are working, why do you need an incentive for people to turn out and vote?" she asked. Trump responded that the checks were not a vote incentive but "a reward for people having to put up with five years, four years of a horrible, horrible situation caused by Biden." When Scott followed up by referencing previous unfulfilled promises of tariff refund checks, Trump became visibly agitated. He leaned toward her, wagged a finger, and repeatedly snapped, "Not you!" He then told her, "Your network and you, you're the worst," before moving on to another reporter.
