Trial of ex-police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon begins over alleged murders

The criminal trial of former New South Wales police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon for the alleged murders of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies has begun in the NSW Supreme Court. Lamarre-Condon, 31, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder and one count of aggravated break and enter. In his opening address on Monday, Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield, SC, alleged Lamarre-Condon disguised himself as an Uber Eats delivery driver before shooting Baird, 26, and Davies, 29, at Baird's Paddington home on February 19, 2024. The Crown alleges the murders were premeditated, stemming from an obsessive infatuation with Baird after a brief relationship. Hatfield told the jury Lamarre-Condon set his alarm for 4:30 a.m. on the day of the killings and later messaged a friend, "Ill try to call you tonight and update you X. Dont worry about me though X. Theres no sign Im doing it." The prosecution alleges he left his Balmain home in his Tesla, switched to a rented Mazda in Kensington, and activated a burner phone. The Crown alleges Lamarre-Condon arrived at Baird's home shortly after 6 a.m. and waited for over three hours.
