TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee Accuses BJP of Ransacking Kolkata Office

Published 3 September 2026

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee accused Bharatiya Janata Party workers of ransacking his party's office in central Kolkata in the early hours of Thursday, September 3, 2026. The Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha member alleged that a group of armed individuals stormed the TMC office on Camac Street around 4:30 a.m., assaulted staff, and damaged property. Banerjee, who is also the TMC general secretary, released video footage of the alleged attack on his social media handle. He claimed the perpetrators were armed with weapons, attacked people present at the office, snatched their phones, smashed furniture, and destroyed electronic equipment. He stated the incident occurred while he was away in New Delhi. The TMC leader directed sharp criticism at West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, a senior BJP leader. "Why are you so scared of the Trinamool Congress and of me that you have to resort to this kind of intimidation?" Banerjee wrote. He asserted that if the Opposition was to be treated through "violence, vandalism and intimidation," the Chief Minister had no moral authority to remain in office and should resign.
