Tinubu approves proposed 2027 campaign timetable, Yari says

Published 9 October 2026

President Bola Tinubu has approved a proposed timetable for his 2027 re-election campaign, including a planned launch in Kaduna on October 24, campaign council director Abdulaziz Yari said Friday. The campaign events have not yet taken place, and the full itinerary has not been released. Yari, director-general of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, gave the account after meeting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He said the president had approved the proposal for visits across the country and that the campaign would move from Kaduna to Port Harcourt and then Maiduguri. The council’s inaugural meeting is planned for October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall, Yari said. He said the campaign timetable would be made public after the inauguration. The October 24 Kaduna event is described as the campaign’s flag-off. Yari also set out his assessment of the ruling party’s prospects in the 2027 presidential election. He claimed the APC had support or control in more than 10 states in both northern and southern Nigeria, and argued that candidates would need support across regions to win nationally.
