TikTok adds voice comments, polls, and photo features to comments

Published 3 September 2026

TikTok announced on September 3, 2026, a suite of new comment features designed to expand how users interact beneath videos, introducing voice messages, polls, photo carousels, and Live Photos. The updates, which the company says will roll out globally over the next month, aim to transform the comment section from a text-based reply space into a more dynamic and integrated part of the content experience. The most significant addition is Voice Comments, which allows users to record and post audio messages up to 60 seconds long directly under a video. To use the feature, users tap a microphone icon in the comment box to record their message. Once posted, other users can tap to listen without leaving the comment section. TikTok stated that sound and music have been central to the platform from its beginning, and this feature extends that audio-driven culture into conversations. Voice Comments will be available to users aged 18 and older and will roll out globally over the next month.
