Three Sisters Drown in Kano Boat Accident at Tiga Dam
Three sisters drowned on Saturday afternoon after the boat carrying them capsized at Tiga Dam in Kano State, Nigeria, plunging their community into mourning. The victims, identified as Murjanatu, Atikatu, and Bilkisu, popularly known as Amira, were from Yalwan RuguRugu village in the Tudunwada Local Government Area. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on August 30, 2026, as the sisters were returning home from a rice harvest. According to their father, Malam Abdulhadi Suleiman, the three girls had gone to the farm with their brother, Usman Abdulhadi, to assist with the harvest. After completing their work, they boarded a boat to return home.
