Published 7 September 2026

Three siblings, including 11-year-old twins, were found dead near a river on a farm in Akure, Ondo State, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, prompting an investigation by authorities and allegations of foul play from their father. The deceased were identified as Joshua Jonah, 11, his twin brother Jacob Jonah, also 11, and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah. According to reports, the children accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to his farm located around the Owena Army Barracks on Friday, September 4. They reportedly left the farm later in the day to return home, but did not arrive. Their father, Samuel Jonah, discovered they were missing after returning home himself. He reported them missing to military police officers at the barracks and later began a search with his wife. The search continued into Saturday morning, with the family also checking with their pastor to see if the children had gone to church. The bodies of the three siblings were discovered on Saturday, September 5, near the bank of a small river within the farm.
