The Legend of Zelda Movie Title and Logo Revealed

The official title and logo for the upcoming live-action "The Legend of Zelda" movie have been revealed, confirming the film will simply be called "The Legend of Zelda." The announcement was made during a Nintendo Direct presentation on September 8, 2026, celebrating the franchise's 40th anniversary. The film, directed by Wes Ball, is slated for release on April 30, 2027, and will feature an original story rather than adapting a specific game from the beloved series. Shigeru Miyamoto, producer and co-creator of The Legend of Zelda, explained that the decision to omit a subtitle was deliberate and that audiences will understand the reasoning once they see the film. This approach breaks a 39-year tradition for the franchise, as nearly every game entry has included a subtitle since the 1987 sequel, "The Adventure of Link." Miyamoto stated that the movie draws upon the "many stories, ideas, and concepts of the series built up through the games for 40 years," aiming to create an artistic work worthy of the franchise. The film's title is also an homage to the original 1986 game, which was the only entry to not have a subtitle.
