During the game, which saw Texas rally from a 20-point deficit in the fourth quarter, Sarkisian's halftime interview with Rutledge was delayed due to technical issues on ESPN's end. He waited on the sideline but eventually left to address his team in the locker room. Postgame, after the win, Sarkisian cut off Rowe's first question by saying "Texas fight. Hook em!" and walked away to celebrate with his team. Both moments were captured on video and quickly spread online. The postgame exchange led to the creation of an AI-generated video depicting Sarkisian slapping Rowe. On Monday, during a media availability, Texas quarterback Arch Manning referenced the video, calling it "hilarious." His comment drew immediate and widespread criticism.
