Texans WR Nico Collins in jeopardy for Week 2 with hamstring injury

Published 17 September 2026

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is in jeopardy of missing the team's Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering a hamstring injury during practice on Wednesday. The injury, which does not appear to be serious, was reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. Collins' status for Sunday's home game is uncertain, and the setback comes just days after he recorded seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' season-opening loss to the Buffalo Bills. The injury has prompted a shift in the team's receiving depth chart. With Collins' availability in question, recent trade acquisition Kayshon Boutte is in line to serve as the Texans' top receiver. Tight end Dalton Schultz is also expected to take on a larger role. The team's receiving corps is already depleted, with Tank Dell on injured reserve and rookie Jayden Higgins sidelined for the season with a torn ACL suffered during joint practices in August. Following the injury news, Collins engaged in a social media dispute with a fan who criticized his injury history. The exchange began when a fan posted on X, "Every year with this f n smh," to which Collins responded, "watch ya mouth my n hell u talm bout.
