Telangana Plans Largest Cricket Stadium in India

The Telangana government is planning to build a massive new cricket stadium in Hyderabad that would surpass the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as the largest in the country. The proposed facility, to be located in the Bharat Future City development, is envisioned as a world-class, multipurpose sports and events venue. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is spearheading the project, with the foundation stone expected to be laid in December 2026. Officials are currently finalizing the exact location within the 100-acre site. The stadium is designed to have a seating capacity exceeding the 132,000-seat Narendra Modi Stadium, making it the largest cricket venue in India. Its construction cost is also anticipated to surpass that of the Gujarat facility. The project is structured as a joint venture between the state government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Under the arrangement, the Telangana government will provide the land, while the BCCI will fund the construction and ongoing maintenance. A joint management model for the facility is also being considered.
