Telangana BRS MLCs Suspended Over Remarks Against Speaker
Two Members of the Telangana Legislative Council from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party were suspended on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, for the remainder of the legislative session. The suspension followed allegations of derogatory and unparliamentary remarks made by the members, Tata Madhusudhan and N Naveen Kumar Reddy, against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. The Telangana Assembly adopted a resolution condemning the conduct of the two MLCs and forwarded the matter to the Legislative Council for action. The resolution, passed unanimously, cited alleged remarks made on September 7 near Gate No. 3 within the Assembly precincts. The Assembly also condemned the members for allegedly removing their T-shirts in public in the presence of women, describing the behavior as highly objectionable and unbecoming of legislators. Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu moved a motion in the Legislative Council to suspend Madhusudhan and Reddy. Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy then announced the suspension, citing the mood of the House and the need to maintain decorum.
