Teenager Vishesh Sharma leads Telangana Golconda Masters by four shots

Published 4 September 2026

Teenager Vishesh Sharma extended his lead to four shots after the third round of the Telangana Golconda Masters, carding a six-under 64 at his home course in Hyderabad on Thursday. The 19-year-old local favourite reached 20-under 190, holding a commanding advantage over nearest challenger Amardeep Malik heading into the final day. Sharma began the third round tied for the lead with Malik and immediately took control with seven birdies against a single bogey. His round featured several crucial par saves, including a recovery on the eighth hole after his ball settled in an awkward lie between the fringe and rough. He converted a 12-foot putt to save par, a moment he later described as pivotal. "That was a crucial par and helped me stay in the round," Sharma said. He added that a birdie on the 12th provided fresh momentum, allowing him to build his advantage further. The 19-year-old has now held at least a share of the lead after every round. He opened the tournament with a course-record-equalling 60 on Tuesday, followed by a 66 on Wednesday, and his latest 64 has established a significant cushion.
