Taylor Swift Skips 2026 Emmys for Husband's NFL Game

Published 15 September 2026

Taylor Swift did not attend the 2026 Emmy Awards ceremony on September 14, despite receiving five nominations for her concert film, "Taylor Swift The Eras Tour The Final Show." The singer and actress instead attended the first NFL game of the season for her husband, Travis Kelce, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Swift's nominated categories were announced at the Creative Arts Emmys on September 5, ahead of the main televised ceremony. She lost all five awards, including Outstanding Variety Special Pre-Recorded, which was won by "The Muppet Show." The other categories included Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming, Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork for a Special, and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special. On the night of the main ceremony, Swift was seen at Arrowhead Stadium supporting Kelce as the Kansas City Chiefs played the Denver Broncos. Actor Tom Cruise was also reported to be seated with her at the game. This marked one of the couple's first major public appearances since their wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3.
