Tata Signs Deal to Co-Produce Javelin Missiles in India

Tata Advanced Systems Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Javelin Joint Venture, a partnership between Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, to explore the co-production of Javelin anti-tank guided missiles in India. The agreement, announced on August 31, 2026, designates Tata Advanced Systems as the "prime partner" for future in-country production efforts. This development follows closely after India and the United States formalized a government-to-government contract for the purchase of 100 Javelin missile systems. The memorandum of understanding outlines plans to establish a final assembly and integration facility in India for the Javelin All Up Round, which is the complete, factory-assembled missile enclosed in its tactical launch container. Under the proposed arrangement, subassembly kits will be manufactured at Lockheed Martin's facility in Troy, Alabama, and guidance electronics units will be produced at Raytheon's plant in Tucson, Arizona. These components will then be shipped to India for final assembly and integration by Tata Advanced Systems.
