Published 15 September 2026

Tamil Nadu secured investment commitments worth at least Rs 12,300 crore during Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's visit to London, with the state government announcing several major agreements aimed at boosting manufacturing and technology sectors. The largest commitment came from Samvardhana Motherson International Limited, which signed a memorandum of understanding to invest approximately Rs 11,000 crore over the next five years. The project is expected to create nearly 7,000 jobs in design, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and logistics operations across the state. Ernst Young committed to establishing a Global Capability Centre in Chennai with an investment of around Rs 1,000 crore, projected to create more than 2,000 high-value jobs. The centre will be located along Mount-Poonamallee Road as part of the state's newly announced Global Capability Centres Corridor and Development Programme. Sweden-based Sigma Technology Group also signed agreements to expand its existing centres in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli, targeting 600 jobs in embedded systems and industrial digitalisation.
