T-Pain Sues Akon's Label Over Royalties

Rapper T-Pain has filed a lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court against Konvict Entertainment, alleging the record label owes him $489,047 in unpaid royalties. The suit claims the company breached both a 2005 recording agreement and a 2025 settlement that resolved a previous royalty dispute. The current legal action centers on a royalty payment of approximately $1.3 million that Konvict Entertainment allegedly received from a distributor in late March. This payment was reportedly for T-Pain's music sales generated during the second half of 2025. According to the complaint, T-Pain is entitled to 75 percent of the net royalties Konvict collects from distributors. The lawsuit states that Konvict paid T-Pain $489,047 in early June, which he alleges was only half of what he was owed. The remaining portion of the payment was reportedly routed to Konvict affiliate BuVision. T-Pain's representatives attempted to recover the outstanding funds from BuVision without success. The complaint asserts that Konvict Entertainment failed to cure its breach of the 2025 settlement agreement after receiving written notice of the alleged non-payment.
