Surrogate learns baby's father is Chinese billionaire with 100+ children

Published 14 September 2026

A California surrogate has revealed she only learned from a television report that the intended father of the baby she is carrying is Chinese billionaire Xu Bo, a video game executive reported to have fathered more than 100 children through U.S. surrogacy arrangements. The woman, identified as Judy to protect her privacy, said she was told by the agency Patriot Conceptions that the intended parent was a single father seeking to grow his family. Judy told CBS News she asked how many other surrogates the intended parent had hired and was informed the number was close to two dozen. She said she felt bound by her contract and needed the income to support her seven-year-old daughter. "It leaves me wondering do I even have a right to know?" Judy said after learning of Xu's reported family arrangements. Leaked documents identified Xu Bo as the intended father. The number of children he has fathered is disputed. His former partner, Tang Jing, has alleged in a custody lawsuit that he could have as many as 300 children. Xu has stated he has custody of 12 children born through surrogacy in the U.S.
