Supreme Court gives Rajpal Yadav final chance to deposit Rs 2 crore

The Supreme Court of India has granted Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav a final two-week opportunity to deposit at least Rs 2 crore with the court registry, extending his protection from arrest in a long-running financial dispute. The court expressed skepticism about his compliance based on past conduct. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant directed Yadav to deposit the amount within two weeks and present a concrete proposal to settle the remaining outstanding dues. The court extended his interim protection from arrest until the next hearing on October 5 and ordered him to surrender his passport. During the hearing, Chief Justice Kant questioned Yadav's trustworthiness, stating he is "perfect in doing drama" in Bollywood and may be doing the same in court. The bench observed that Yadav's conduct so far did not inspire confidence, particularly as previous orders had not been complied with. The dispute originates from a loan of approximately Rs 5 crore taken by Yadav in 2010 to finance his directorial debut film "Ata Pata Laapata," which failed commercially.
