Suno AI music models debut with industry deals
AI music startup Suno has released its latest suite of AI models, v6, v6Wild, and v6mini, on September 9, aiming to integrate more closely with the music industry through new partnerships and licensed data. The launch comes amid ongoing scrutiny and legal challenges surrounding AI's role in music creation. The new models represent a significant shift for Suno, with v6 and v6Wild available to paid subscribers on its Pro and Premier tiers, while the v6mini model is offered free to all users. Suno stated that these models incorporate licensed music data from partners including Warner Music Group and BMG, a move designed to address concerns about copyright and uncompensated use of artists' work. The company also announced a global partnership with Believe and its distribution platform TuneCore, which will allow tracks created with the new industry-partner model to be eligible for distribution. Suno's Chief Executive Mikey Shulman described the initiative as a blueprint for how AI and the music industry can mutually strengthen each other, creating new product experiences for artists and fans.
