Strictly 2026 series announced with new hosts format

The BBC has officially announced the return of "Strictly Come Dancing" for its 2026 series, confirming a September 19 launch date for the highly anticipated launch show. The announcement, accompanied by a new trailer, reveals significant changes to the beloved format and introduces a new trio of hosts. The launch episode, set to air on Saturday, September 19, at 7:25 p.m. on BBC One and iPlayer, will feature a revamped approach to celebrity and professional partner pairings. For the first time in the show's history, contestants will discover their dance partners live in front of the studio audience, rather than in pre-recorded segments. This reveal will occur through three specially choreographed group dance routines. This marks a return to a format similar to that used before 2020. Taking the helm as the show's new hosts are Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe. They step into the roles previously held by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who departed the program at the end of 2025.
