Strange New Worlds finale revises Kirk's future timeline

The Season 4 finale of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds depicts Captain James T. Kirk commanding the Enterprise one year in the future, while Lieutenant Nyota Uhura moves between that timeline and her younger self’s present. Executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers said the episode’s future scenes were revised after the series received a fifth and final season, with some definitive material held for the series finale. In “Tomorrow’s Enterprise,” two versions of the Enterprise appear near a white hole and a black hole. The two Uhuras communicate across the timelines and exchange places. In the future scenes, Kirk is in command and Scotty is said to have died a year earlier. The episode’s plot has the Uhuras work to prevent Scotty’s death, with events in the future changing as the characters act in the past. The aired episode places Kirk’s Enterprise one year ahead of the present-day events. Celia Rose Gooding said the future scenes were originally set three years ahead.
