The filmmakers, known for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, are crafting a story that explores the institution of Starfleet from a new perspective, aiming to attract both longtime fans and general audiences. In interviews published in early September 2026, Goldstein and Daley described their vision for the film, which is currently in development. They confirmed the movie will not be connected to previous Star Trek films or television series and will feature entirely new characters. "It won't be the characters that you've seen previously in your Star Trek movies," Goldstein said. "So there will be a new take on that."
