Standard Chartered Plans Singapore Digital Asset Custody

Published 8 October 2026

Standard Chartered plans to offer digital-asset custody in Singapore to institutional clients and corporate clients that qualify as accredited investors, extending its services for selected cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets. The proposed service is subject to applicable regulatory requirements and has no announced launch date. The bank said the offering would operate alongside its Financing Securities Services business, bringing digital-asset custody into its existing asset-servicing operations. The intended clients are institutional customers and accredited-investor corporate clients; the announcement does not describe a retail product. Standard Chartered said the planned service would support clients across traditional and tokenized asset servicing, including safekeeping. It has not specified which cryptocurrencies, stablecoins or tokenized assets would be eligible. The announcement also does not establish whether the service would include settlement or transfer functions beyond custody.
