SpiceJet Delhi-Dubai flights delayed over 24 hours, passengers protest

More than 100 passengers staged a protest at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday and Tuesday after two SpiceJet flights to Dubai were delayed for over 24 hours, leaving them stranded without clear information on new departure times. The disruptions affected flights SG 5111 and SG 5105. Flight SG 5111 was originally scheduled to depart at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, September 14, while flight SG 5105 was scheduled for 6:45 p.m. that same evening. Both flights remained grounded at the airport as of Tuesday afternoon, according to multiple reports. SpiceJet attributed the delays to operational reasons following the grounding of an aircraft. "Alternate flights are being arranged to accommodate the affected passengers, and the airline is making every effort to minimise the inconvenience caused," a SpiceJet spokesperson said. The airline expressed regret for the disruption. The prolonged wait triggered frustration among travelers. Videos from the airport showed passengers sitting on the terminal floor in protest, demanding accommodation and answers. Some passengers chanted slogans against the airline.
