SPFL bans away fans for Old Firm games

The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) has announced a ban on away supporters for all Old Firm matches between Celtic and Rangers for the remainder of the 2026-27 season. The ban takes effect immediately and means that neither Celtic nor Rangers fans will be permitted to attend matches at the opposing club's stadium in SPFL competitions for the rest of the current season. This measure follows a dispute over ticket allocations for the upcoming Premier Sports Cup tie at Ibrox on September 13. Rangers had proposed offering Celtic only 300 tickets, a significant reduction from the customary allocation of around 2,500 seats, citing safety concerns and the findings of an independent review into the March 8 incident. Celtic did not accept this reduced allocation, leading the matter to be determined by the SPFL.
