Spain Extends World Cup-Winning Coach De la Fuente's Contract to 2032

The Royal Spanish Football Federation has unanimously extended head coach Luis de la Fuente's contract through 2032, securing the manager who led Spain to victory in the 2026 World Cup and Euro 2024. The federation's board of directors approved the new deal on September 21, rewarding a record that includes a 38-game unbeaten streak following the World Cup final win over Argentina. RFEF president Rafael Louzan announced the decision, calling De la Fuente "the most decorated coach in the national team's history" and stating the extension provides "stability and confidence" for the long-term sporting project. The new contract adds four years to a deal originally set to expire after Euro 2028, covering the 2030 World Cup, which Spain will co-host with Portugal and Morocco, as well as the 2028 and 2032 European Championships. De la Fuente, 65, expressed his ambition following the announcement. "We are not satisfied with what we have achieved so far. The best is yet to come," he said. "I'm especially excited about making it to the 2030 World Cup, but I am also excited about reaching Euro 2032.
