South Africa beats Zimbabwe in T20I Tri-Series final

South Africa clinched the T20I Tri-Series title in Windhoek, Namibia, defeating Zimbabwe by 48 runs in the final on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The Proteas posted a formidable 205 for 5 after being sent in to bat, then bowled out the Chevrons for 157 in the 18th over to secure the championship. Despite missing injured openers Lhuandre Pretorius and Andile Simelane, South Africa's batting lineup delivered a strong performance. Captain Bjorn Fortuin won the toss and elected to bat, with Connor Esterhuizen and Jordan Hermann providing a rapid start, putting on an 84-run partnership. Esterhuizen contributed 32 runs before falling in the eighth over. Hermann went on to score his maiden T20I fifty, finishing with 53 runs from 29 balls. Dewald Brevis and Rubin Hermann continued to build momentum in the middle order, with Brevis scoring 32 and Hermann adding 27, pushing the total towards the 200-run mark. Duan Jansen also chipped in with a quickfire 23 off 14 balls. For Zimbabwe, Brad Evans was the most successful bowler, taking two wickets for 36 runs, while Newman Nyamhuri also claimed two wickets for 25 runs.
