Soundgarden Reunite at Seahawks Opener With Momsen

Soundgarden made a rare return to the stage on Wednesday night, September 9, performing at halftime of the Seattle Seahawks' NFL season opener against the New England Patriots at Lumen Field. The surviving members of the band, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron, were joined by The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen on lead vocals and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready on additional guitar for a compact medley of the classics Outshined and Spoonman, backed by the Seahawks' Blue Thunder drumline. The Seahawks won the game 13-10, a rematch of the most recent Super Bowl. The performance marked Soundgarden's first public appearance since their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in November 2025, where Momsen and McCready also joined the band. Momsen has fronted the group on several occasions since the death of singer Chris Cornell in May 2017, including the 2019 I Am the Highway tribute concert in Los Angeles. The halftime set also marked the first time the band performed Spoonman since Cornell's death; their final concert with him took place at Detroit's Fox Theatre on May 17, 2017.
