Solheim Cup 2026 Begins September 11

Published 8 September 2026

The 20th edition of the Solheim Cup, the premier women's professional golf team competition, is set to begin Friday, September 11, 2026, at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. The biennial event pits a 12-player European team against their United States counterparts in a three-day contest that will conclude on Sunday, September 13. Europe enters the matches aiming to regain the trophy after a 15.5-12.5 loss to the U.S. two years ago in Virginia. The American team, captained by Angela Stanford, seeks to win back-to-back Solheim Cups for the first time since 2017. This year's competition marks the Solheim Cup's debut in the Netherlands. Europe, led by captain Anna Nordqvist, will rely on a team that includes several players ranked within the world's top 10, such as Charley Hull and Lottie Woad. The U.S. team is anchored by Nelly Korda, currently ranked as the world's number one player, who has secured two major championships in 2026. The Solheim Cup format consists of 28 matches: foursomes and fourballs played on Friday and Saturday, followed by 12 singles matches on Sunday. Each match is worth one point, and the first team to reach 14.5 points wins the cup.
