Snoop Dogg to Host 2026 MTV VMAs

Snoop Dogg will host the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, MTV announced on Thursday, marking the latest high-profile television appearance for the rap star. The ceremony is set for Sunday, September 27, and will air live from Los Angeles on CBS, with a simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount in the United States. The show will also be available globally the next day on Paramount and MTV. The announcement comes as the awards show returns to the West Coast for the first time since 2017. Last year's ceremony was hosted by LL Cool J from New York. The broadcast is scheduled to run from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. ET, or 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. PT. Snoop Dogg, a 13-time VMAs nominee and three-time winner, described the hosting role as a full-circle moment in a statement released with the announcement. He said MTV and the VMAs have been part of his story since the beginning and that some of the biggest moments of his career happened on that stage, noting that MTV gave hip hop a place to be seen by the whole world. He added that working with Van Toffler, who was there during his early MTV days, makes the opportunity even more special.
