Snapchat Launches Free Event Planning Feature for Friends
Snapchat has launched a new feature called Snapchat Plans, a suite of tools designed to help users organize in-person events with friends directly within the app. The free, private, and invite-only feature allows users to create events, invite up to 200 friends, and manage RSVPs, marking the company's latest effort to encourage real-world connections. The feature, announced on September 10, 2026, enables users to create an event by adding a title, choosing a date and time, and sending invitations directly within one-on-one chats. Guests can respond with Going, Maybe, or Cant Go. A new My Plans section on user profiles will allow them to track all their commitments in one place. Snap stated that the feature is built on the insight that about a third of young people on the app in the US already use group chats and direct messages to plan gatherings. Snapchat Plans are private and invite-only, with event details visible only to the creator and invited guests. The company emphasized that the feature is free, clarifying that its name should not be confused with a paid subscription service.
