Snap Unveils $2,195 AR Glasses for Fall 2026 Launch

Snap Inc. has unveiled its new augmented reality glasses, the Specs, positioning them as a standalone computer designed for intermittent use. The device, priced at $2,195, is scheduled for a Fall 2026 launch and features a 51-degree field of view, hand tracking for navigation, and an onboard AI assistant called Specs Intelligence. A higher-priced model at $2,395 includes a cellular case for connectivity beyond Wi-Fi. The glasses are described as chunky and heavy, with the smaller 47mm model weighing 132 grams. Reviews from hands-on demos note that while the device is surprisingly comfortable for short periods, its design is noticeably not like regular glasses. Battery life is rated for approximately four hours of mixed use. Snap CEO Evan Spiegel has stated the Specs are intended for intermittent use, not all-day wear, and framed the product as an effort to make computing more human. A key feature is the Specs Intelligence AI platform, which Snap describes as an anticipatory assistant. It is designed to build an understanding of user routines and goals from connected apps. The AI will also be available on iPhone and Mac, not just the glasses.
