Sir Billy Boston, pioneering rugby league winger, dies at 92

Sir Billy Boston, a pioneering rugby league winger who overcame racial prejudice to become one of the sport's greatest players and its first knight, has died at the age of 92. The Welsh sporting icon passed away overnight in a hospital in Wigan, his adopted home for more than seven decades, just four days after the funeral of his wife, Lady Joan. The Welsh Rugby Union announced his death, describing him as "one of the best loved and most iconic figures in the history of Welsh sport." Born in Cardiff's Tiger Bay in 1934, Boston began his career in rugby union before switching codes to join Wigan in 1953 at the age of 19.
