Singer Nisar Wayanad dies in Dubai at 44

Malayalam singer Nisar Wayanad, known for his Mappilappattu performances and a voice often compared to Bollywood singer Udit Narayan, died in Dubai on Saturday, September 5, 2026. He was 44. His death occurred in a private hospital in Dubai, hours before he was scheduled to perform at an event in Ajman. Nisar Wayanad, whose real name was Nissar Aroth Ibrahim, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday afternoon after complaining of a high fever. He had reportedly been experiencing a fever for a couple of days and was taking medication. His condition worsened, and doctors were unable to save him. Medical reports cited septicemia, a severe infection leading to systemic organ failure, as the actual cause of death, with acidosis listed as a direct consequence. He was diabetic, but friends were reportedly unaware of other significant health conditions. A native of Kambalakkad in Wayanad, Kerala, Nisar Wayanad had traveled to Dubai last month for a musical event. He was scheduled to perform in Saudi Arabia and Dubai in the coming days. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. News of his sudden passing sent shockwaves through the expatriate community in the UAE.
