Singapore offers nearly S$70,000 per child in new family support package
Singapore announced a comprehensive family support package on Sunday, aiming to provide nearly S$70,000 (approximately US$55,150) in direct financial assistance for every citizen child up to the age of 17. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong revealed the initiative during his National Day Rally speech on August 23, describing it as a fundamental shift to support families facing rising pressures and a record-low birth rate. The centerpiece is the new SG Child Support Package, which will deliver up to S$62,000 in cash and grants, supplementing existing benefits to reach a total of nearly S$70,000 per child.
